Medical SEO & Google Ads
Be the practice patients find when they search.
Most new patients start on Google, not with your name, but with a symptom, a specialty and "near me." We put your practice in front of them twice: in the organic and map results through SEO, and at the top of the page through Google Ads managed by specialists. Then we turn those visits into calls and appointment requests, without sending patient data to ad platforms along the way.
Why good practices don't show up
It's rarely about the quality of care. It's usually one of these, and usually more than one.
-
An incomplete Google Business Profile
The map results above the website listings are driven by your profile: categories, hours, services, photos and reviews. Gaps here cost more visibility than anything on your website.
-
Inconsistent listings
An old suite number on Healthgrades, a retired phone line on WebMD, a provider who left still listed on Vitals. Mismatched details make search engines less sure you're the right answer.
-
One page for every service
Patients search for specific conditions and treatments. A single "Services" page listing twenty things can't rank for any of them.
-
A slow or hard-to-use site
Load time, mobile usability and accessibility all feed into rankings. They also decide whether the patient calls you or presses back.
What's included
Local SEO built for medical practices
Google Business Profile
Setup or cleanup, the right primary and secondary categories, services, hours and holiday hours, photos, and regular posts. For multi-location and multi-provider practices, we structure profiles the way Google's guidelines for healthcare providers expect.
Listings & directories
Your name, address and phone made consistent across the places patients and search engines check: Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Healthgrades, WebMD, Vitals, Zocdoc, Yelp and your insurers' directories.
Pages patients search for
Dedicated pages for your key conditions, treatments and locations, written for patients in plain English and reviewed by your clinicians before they go live. Health is a subject Google holds to a higher standard, and accuracy is the point.
Technical SEO
Page speed and Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, crawl errors, broken links, redirects after a redesign, and structured data (schema) that tells Google which pages describe your practice, providers and locations.
Accessibility, which helps rankings too
Headings in order, descriptive links, alt text, readable contrast. The same work that keeps you compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA makes your pages easier for search engines to understand.
Reporting you can read
A short monthly report on what changed, where you rank for the searches that matter, and how many calls, direction requests and appointment requests came from search. No vanity metrics.
The part most SEO agencies skip
Tracking that doesn't leak patient data
Measuring results usually means analytics, ad pixels and call tracking. On a medical site, those tools can capture which pages a visitor viewed, what they typed into a form and who they are, and pass it to Google or Meta. Regulators have penalized health companies for exactly that.
We set up measurement so it doesn't. No advertising pixels on appointment, intake or condition pages; forms that don't send their contents to analytics; and a Business Associate Agreement with any vendor that does touch patient information. You still see which searches bring in patients. Google and Meta just don't learn who those patients are.
How it works
From audit to steady growth
-
Audit
We review your site, your Google Business Profile, your listings and the practices you compete with locally. The audit is free and you keep it.
-
Fix the foundations
Technical problems, profile gaps and listing inconsistencies first. These are the quickest wins and everything else builds on them.
-
Build out content
A plan for the condition, treatment and location pages that match how your patients search, then a steady schedule of new and improved pages.
-
Measure and adjust
Monthly reporting tied to calls and appointment requests, and a plan that changes with what's actually working.
Google Ads
Google Ads, run by specialists in healthcare
SEO builds visibility that lasts; ads put you at the top of the page today. Most practices do best with both: ads bring in patients while SEO grows, then the ad budget can shrink as organic search carries more of the load. Healthcare is one of the hardest categories to advertise in, though. Google restricts how health ads can be targeted, some treatments need certification before ads will run, and a badly set-up campaign can spend a month's budget on clicks that never become patients. That's why we treat ads as a specialty, not an add-on.
Campaigns built on patient searches
Campaigns organized by service and location, keywords chosen for intent to book, and an ongoing list of negative keywords so you stop paying for job seekers, students and people researching symptoms.
Healthcare ad policies, handled
Google's healthcare and personalized-advertising rules decide what you can say, who you can target and whether remarketing is allowed at all. We build within them, handle certifications where a treatment requires one, and resolve disapprovals quickly.
Landing pages that convert
Ads that send patients to your homepage waste money. Each campaign gets a fast, accessible landing page that matches the search, with a tap-to-call button and a short request form.
Conversion tracking without patient data
Calls and appointment requests are counted as conversions so Google can optimize toward them, without sending names, contact details or form contents back to Google.
Budget that works your hours
Ads shown when your phones are staffed, bids adjusted by location and device, and spend shifted toward the services and campaigns that actually bring in patients.
Cost per patient, not per click
Monthly reporting on spend, calls, appointment requests and the cost of each. If a campaign isn't paying for itself, we'll say so and change it, or tell you to stop.
Questions
SEO and Google Ads, plainly answered
How long does medical SEO take to work?
Fixes to your Google Business Profile and listings often show results within weeks. Ranking new pages for competitive searches usually takes several months, and depends on your specialty, your market and where your site is starting from. The audit will give you a realistic picture before you commit to anything.
Can you guarantee a #1 ranking on Google?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Google itself warns that no one can guarantee a top ranking. What we can commit to is the work: what we'll fix, what we'll publish, and a report each month showing the results.
Is SEO and analytics tracking HIPAA compliant?
SEO itself doesn't involve patient information. Tracking can, if it's set up carelessly. We configure analytics so form contents and identifying details aren't sent to Google or ad platforms, keep advertising pixels off patient-facing pages, and put a Business Associate Agreement in place with any vendor that handles protected health information.
How much should we spend on Google Ads?
It depends on your specialty, how competitive your area is and how many new patients you want. After reviewing your market we'll recommend a starting budget, then adjust it based on what each call and appointment request actually costs.
Can you take over our existing Google Ads account?
Yes. We start with an audit of the account: wasted spend, missing negative keywords, broken conversion tracking and any policy problems. You'll see what we'd change before we change anything.
Do I need a new website first?
Not always. If your current site is fast, accessible and easy to update, we'll work with it. If it's holding you back, a redesign and SEO work well together, and we'll make sure the move doesn't cost you the rankings you already have.
Do you work with my specialty, or with multiple locations?
We've built and marketed sites for primary care, specialty practices, cancer treatment centers and multi-location groups since 2003. For multiple locations, each one gets its own optimized profile and location page.
Who writes the content?
We do the research and the writing; your clinicians review anything medical before it's published. That review step matters: accurate, clearly sourced health content is what both patients and Google look for.
